LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) - Authorities say two men were recently arrested in separate cases at Washington-area airports after loaded handguns were found in their carry-on bags at security checkpoints.

The Transportation Security Administration announced Wednesday that a man from was stopped Sunday morning at a checkpoint at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport when an officer operating an X-ray machine spotted the gun in his bag.

On Sunday afternoon, TSA says an officer operating an X-ray machine at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport stopped another man when a gun was spotted in his bag.

In both cases, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says the men said they didn’t know the guns were there, but passengers are responsible for the contents of their bags.
