WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - One of the bridges connecting the island of Palm Beach with the mainland is expected to be closed for about six months.

State transportation officials say Flagler Memorial Bridge will be closed May 5.

The bridge connects Palm Beach and West Palm Beach and will ultimately be replaced by a new span to its south. But The Palm Beach Post (https://goo.gl/oboL6l ) reports the new bridge’s foundation has rattled the old bridge so much that it threatened its structural integrity.

The bridge is expected to reopen in November.
