TULSA, Okla. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine is scheduled to be joined by the ambassador from Azerbaijan for a town hall in Tulsa that is expected to focus on energy security and political stability.

The public forum with the Republican Oklahoma politician and Ambassador Elin Suleymanov is slated for Sunday on the University of Oklahoma’s midtown Tulsa campus.

Bridenstine’s office says the meeting is critical to illustrate the bond Oklahoma has with the country, especially in light of current political conflicts between Russia, Ukraine and other nations.

Bridenstine also says the link is further illustrated in the Oklahoma National Guard’s pairing with Azerbaijan in a program where senior military officers exchange knowledge and build relationships.
