AURORA, Colo. (AP) - A judge has struck down a lawsuit filed by 11 hotels - most of them based in Denver - that were trying to stop construction of a 1,500-room hotel and water park in northeast Aurora near Denver International Airport.

The Aurora Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1gMwCSX ) Denver District Judge Norman Haglund dismissed the lawsuit Wednesday, saying the hotels had no standing to sue. The lawsuit sought to overturn the $81.4 million tax incentive awarded to the Gaylord Hotel and Conference Center because details of the project had changed.

Aurora and Gaylord officials say the hotels were only trying to scuttle the project because they feared the center would steal room bookings from Denver and across the state.

Attorneys for the plaintiffs say they will consider appealing the judge’s decision.
