AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Thousands of homes and businesses in Central Texas have lost electricity after thunderstorms rolled through the area.

Austin Energy on Tuesday reported about 1,700 customers still without power following the bad weather.

The utility had about 12,000 outages Monday night as Austin-area storms brought down branches and caused some scaffolding to collapse at a construction site.

Austin police and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday had no immediate reports of weather-related injuries.

The National Weather Service forecast Tuesday for Austin includes sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s.
