DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Police in southwest Ohio say a man suspected in the disappearance of a woman and child fatally shot himself during a confrontation with officers, including one who fired at him.

Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl (BEEL) says a coroner ruled after an autopsy Tuesday that 26-year-old Antwan Anderson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Biehl says the Dayton man died after running from police on Monday evening. Biehl says Anderson bailed out of a car, ran into a wooded area and pointed a gun at two pursuing officers, one of whom fired several shots.

Police had been searching for Anderson to question him about the disappearance of Nichelle McKnight and her 4-year-old son. Biehl says they have been missing since March 26.
