BALTIMORE (AP) - The Port of Baltimore set records for handling some commodities in 2013.
A port spokesman said in a news release on Tuesday that general cargo at the public marine terminals reached 9.6 million tons, the same as last year.
The port handled 749,100 cars, the most in the country and 16 percent over last year’s figure. It also handled 6.4 million tons of containers, up one percent from 2012, and 591,570 tons of wood pulp, which is used to produce napkins, tissues and paper towels.
