SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Republican Gov. Susana Martinez is launching the first television advertisement in her re-election bid.

The Martinez campaign said Tuesday the ad will air statewide on broadcast and cable television.

The governor is unopposed in the June primary election. Five Democratic candidates are on the ballot seeking the party’s nomination to oppose Martinez in the general election.

The TV ad focuses on Martinez’s accomplishments, including eliminating a budget shortfall and tax cuts for economic development.

In the ad, Martinez says, “Helping people. It’s the best part about being governor.”

The ad gives the Martinez campaign an early start in shaping voter impressions and portraying the governor in a positive light.

The ad doesn’t mention that New Mexico ranked last regionally in job growth in the 12 months ending in February.
