Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, Maryland Democrat, said Tuesday that Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget could help Democrats take the House later this year.

“It’s a budget that I think is going to make the Republicans very vulnerable because people are going to see a budget that doesn’t help them,” he said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Mr. Ryan’s budget would “make an exceptional country unexceptional,” Mr. Hoyer said, and people will support Democrats when they see how many cuts it makes to give tax breaks to the wealthy.

While Democrats may have a hard time because of redistricting – and having to overtake more than 30 seats – Mr. Hoyer said he thinks Democrats can win the majority in the House.

“I think we have a good chance,” he said. “The polls clearly indicate that people agree with us on every issue we’ve talked about.”
