GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) - A $22 million hotel and indoor sports complex is being planned for an Indianapolis suburb in hopes of attracting amateur sports events.

The complex near an Interstate 65 interchange in Greenwood would include a 124-bed hotel and an attached fieldhouse with six full basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts and bleacher seating for 600 people. The fieldhouse would include a fitness center and sports therapy areas, with a restaurant and bar also planned.

Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers tells The Indianapolis Star the project proposed by Florida-based GoodSports Enterprises would bring many visitors to the city.

GoodSports vice president David Lindberg tells WTHR-TV the complex is aimed at giving young athletes and their families the best experience.

Construction could start this fall, with the complex opening next year.
