Ford has issued two separate recalls — one for a rusting frame problem and the other to have the seat back frames checked.
The first recall is for the Ford Escape from model years 2001 to 2004 and impacts roughly 386,000 SUVs, United Press International reported.
The vehicle is found to have a rusting frame problem that can lead to a separated control arm and steering difficulty for the driver.
Ford reported one driver has crashed because of the frame issue, although nobody was injured.
Owners of the model are asked to bring the vehicle to dealers so mechanics can install a reinforcement brace, UPI said.
The second recall includes 49,000 vehicles from 2013 and 2014 — the Ford Escape, Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ and C-MAX. Owners should bring their vehicles to dealers to have their seat back frames checked for proper weld, UPI said.
No injuries or crashes have been reported from this problem, Ford said.
