RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) - Two high school students and a middle school student in Richmond were arrested on drug charges after a teenager needed medical attention after eating marijuana-laced candy.
Local police and officials with the Chariho Regional School District that serves Richmond, Charlestown and Hopkinton announced the arrests Monday and said they will be offering drug abuse education and counseling to students and parents.
Authorities say a Chariho Middle School student needed medical attention last month for a reaction to the “marijuana candy.” A 14-year-old middle school student was charged March 27 with drug crimes in connection with the incident.
A 14-year-old Chariho High School student also was arrested March 27 after authorities say she was caught with drug-laced candy and prescription pills. Another high school student was charged with drug crimes Monday.
