ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Crews in Albuquerque are cleaning and repainting four police substations that were targeted overnight by vandals.

Police Tuesday said the substations were tagged with red zigzags and other markings painted on exterior walls and windows.

It’s not known whether the vandalism is related to protests over alleged civil rights violations and allegations of use of excessive force by Albuquerque police.

After a 12-hour protest last week, police found graffiti throughout downtown Albuquerque, including on another APD substation.

The latest vandalism follows a City Hall meeting Monday night where and overflow crowd demanded changes ranging from increased officer training to better availability of mental health services that could help stop violent clashes with officers.
