JORDAN, Minn. (AP) - Two women are facing charges after leading police on a car chase that wound through the crowded interstate system in the Twin Cities metro.

Authorities say the pursuit began Monday afternoon after officers spotted a vehicle that was reported stolen. The driver took off and ended up on I-94, crashing into two vehicles and weaving in and out of traffic. With a long line of state troopers following, the driver sped onto I-494, passing vehicles on the left and right shoulders.

Police say the women threw drugs out of the vehicle during the pursuit. The chase eventually ended on Highway 169 near Jordan when the car broke down.

The two 24-year-old women were taken into custody.
