COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) - Sri Lankan cricket fans paraded through the streets, waved flags and lit firecrackers after their national team won the World Twenty20 title.

The victory over India in Sunday’s final in Bangladesh was Sri Lanka’s biggest cricket triumph since the 1996 World Cup title.

Sri Lanka lost in the final in 2009 and 2012 to Pakistan and West Indies. It fell to Australia and India in the World Cup finals of 2007 and 2011.

On Tuesday, the players are to be welcomed home with an open-bus parade from the airport to the center of Colombo.
