SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Police in Spokane say a homeowner who interrupted an apparent burglary was stabbed in the stomach by the intruder, who grabbed a large kitchen knife.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/V5U5Ia ) the 52-year-old victim was able to give officers a good description of the man he found in his kitchen Monday morning. The homeowner was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Capt. Keith Cummings say the two men got into a fight when the homeowner came up from his basement after hearing a noise upstairs that he thought was his sister.
