TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama cornerback Eddie Jackson sustained a knee injury in practice that required surgery.

Coach Nick Saban said Monday that an MRI showed ligament damage on Jackson’s knee. Saban says he’s “confident Eddie will make a full recovery and be ready to go this fall.”

Saban says the sophomore was hurt in Saturday’s scrimmage after going up for the ball and landing awkwardly.

The coach says at this time that Jackson is “probably our best corner.” He started four games and played in seven as a freshman, recording 19 tackles with an interception and two fumble recoveries.

Saban didn’t specify the nature of the injury.
