CINCINNATI (AP) - Canoeists, kayakers and kids highlight the 13th annual celebration of paddling down the Ohio River.
An expanded Paddlefest weekend this year begins June 20 with the kids’ outdoor adventure expo, which includes science, fitness and other presentations geared to children. There also will be rafting, fishing and kayaking at Coney Island just east of Cincinnati.
A new outdoor expo is planned for Saturday, with kayak classes, yoga, fishing and other activities.
Sunday morning brings the main event, when some 1,400 canoes and kayaks are expected to make an 8.2-mile trip from Coney Island to downtown Cincinnati. There will also be races and live music.
The section of river will be closed to commercial and powerboat traffic during the June 22 event.
