KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) - A 53-year-old man faces second-degree murder charges after police say he bludgeoned his 86-year-old mother to death in their Kingston home.

Police in Kingston tell local media outlets that officers found 86-year-old Audrey Carpino dead in her bedroom Saturday morning.

Her son, Mark Carpino, was arrested Saturday evening, but police haven’t released a motive.

It could not be determined if Carpino has a lawyer. He was taken to the Ulster County Jail to await arraignment Monday.
