ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Northwest Albuquerque is getting a new transit center.

Mayor Richard Berry and other officials on Monday afternoon are officially opening the Montano Transit Center at 180 Montana Road NW.

The center will serve the city’s bus system and New Mexico Rail Runner Express passengers.

It will also be the first stop for the Rail Runner as trains head north out of downtown Albuquerque toward Santa Fe.

City officials say the new center could open the area to additional economic development.

The Montano center features a 290-space parking lot, along with bus bays, bike racks and lockers.
