President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will attend a memorial service Wednesday for the victims of the recent shooting at Fort Hood.
White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer confirmed the trip on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday.
“It’s a terrible tragedy what happened at Fort Hood,” he said. “The president and first lady send their thoughts and their prayers out to the victims and families and everyone on the base.”
Last Wednesday, Spc. Ivan Lopez, who reportedly had been dealing with depression and other mental health issues, killed three people and wounded 16 others before taking his own life at the Texas military facility.
Mr. Obama also visited Fort Hood in 2009, after Maj. Nidal Hisan killed 13 at the base and wounded 30 others.
