AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - State efforts are underway to help Maine veterans and current service members apply military experience toward obtaining occupational licenses.

Meetings scheduled April through July are designed to help veterans and current service members become certified electricians, plumbers, boil operators and fuel technicians.

Gov. Paul LePage says many service members have skillsets that are valuable in these industries but may not realize it.

Five informational sessions hosted by state department heads are scheduled in Augusta, Lewiston, Farmington and Bangor.
