HOUSTON (AP) - A woman is hospitalized in serious condition with wounds suffered when, according to Houston police, two armed men opened fire on a girl’s 15th birthday party in a drive-by shooting.
The incident happened Saturday night at a banquet hall in northwestern Houston where a quinceanera (keen-see-yahn-YEH’-rah), a landmark birthday party, was taking place. Police say two groups of men began arguing inside when one group was asked to leave.
The men left but returned with firearms in a truck, from which they opened fire on the banquet hall. One bullet penetrated a glass door and wounded the woman in the side of her stomach.
Police said the wounded woman was believed to have been a bystander and not a target. No arrests or identities have been reported.
