TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - University of Arizona plan to launch what is being billed as the largest fundraising campaign in the school’s history.
UA officials this week announced the campus will formally start an effort to raise $1 billion on April 11.
They say the effort is aimed at meeting goals outlined in the university’s Never Settle plan.
The plan lists expanding research and creating entrepreneurial partnerships as some of the school’s ambitions.
The school’s kickoff event will include an outdoor Interactive Expo of Excellence, campus laboratory tours and a fireworks show.
The UA gets much of its support from private donations.
Officials say philanthropic contributions are critical as state funding continues to decline.
