LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A judge has fined former Nebraska football player Avery Moss $500 for a misdemeanor public indecency conviction.
Moss, 19, was fined Friday by Lancaster County Judge Gale Pokorny, the Lincoln Journal Star reported (https://bit.ly/Px4Y6B).
Moss, from Tempe, Ariz., has been banned from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus through Dec. 31. Moss’ attorney, Brad Roth, said Moss isn’t eligible to ask to be reinstated until December.
Moss is currently working full time at a car dealership, Roth said.
Campus police say Moss exposed himself twice to a 22-year-old student worker at the campus convenience store in December 2012. Police say the worker identified Moss as the man who flashed her after looking at a photo.
Moss said in January that he had looked into transferring but would prefer to re-enroll in 2015, finish his degree in psychology and resume his football career.
“I have complete faith in God, and he would not put a test in front of me that I can’t handle. This is another test I feel I’ll get through,” Moss told The Associated Press in January. “For everybody else, I want them to know that we all make mistakes. I’ve learned from my mistake and seek to become a better man. I won’t let this bump in the road stop me.”
Moss, a defensive lineman, started three games and played in nine others in 2013. He made 36 tackles, including 4.5 sacks, and returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown in a win over Northwestern.
The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Moss didn’t travel to the Gator Bowl against Georgia because of what head coach Bo Pelini in December described as a personal issue.
