DETROIT (AP) - Focus: HOPE will offer free financial education programs as part of Money Smart Week.

The programs are scheduled April 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the civil and human rights organization’s campus in Detroit.

Focus: HOPE says the workshops will focus on financial literacy, credit repair, financial aid and student loans, homebuyer and homeowner education, and entrepreneurship.

Chief executive William Jones, Jr., says the event “is perfect for anyone who has questions about how to better handle their own finances, from paying down debt, to buying a home to basic saving and lending practices.”

Each year, groups host seminars throughout the country to promote financial literacy during Money Smart Week. It begins Saturday.
