COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Visitors to the South Carolina Midlands have a chance view 10 sustainable farms and talk to the families that work them.
Farm gates and barn doors open Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. so people can understand where their meats, diary, fruits and vegetables are raised and grown.
The tour is sponsored by the Carolina Far Stewardship Association. Tickets are $30 per car for all farms all weekend and are available at City Roots Farm or Whole Foods Market in Columbia.
Farms include City Roots and the University of South Carolina Farm and Garden in Columbia, as well as farms in Gilbert, Blythewood, Elgin, Lugoff and Hopkins.
