FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Making it the music business can be tough, and singer John Paul White of The Civil Wars is going to teach a class about the challenges at the University of North Alabama.

The Grammy Award winner will lead a workshop this month called “Surviving the New World in the Music Business.”

The school says White will provide real-world examples about the amount of education, networking, hard luck and work that are required.

White is half of a duo with Joy Williams that has won four Grammy Awards.

The workshop is Friday, April 11, at the campus in Florence, and the cost is $40. White attended North Alabama.
