HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Two men charged with setting a fire that killed a Connecticut woman in 2006 are due in court.

John Vailette and Steven Martone were charged last month with committing arson in Branford that killed Kathy Hardy.

The indictment alleges that after the fire both men made incriminating statements to others. About two days after the fire, authorities say investigators located a truck regularly used by Vailette that contained a silver serving platter and jewelry that belonged to Hardy.

A public defender says Martone maintains his innocence. It was unclear if Vailette, who is in prison for distributing crack cocaine, has an attorney.

Vailette is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in federal court in Hartford. Martone, who is detained, has a bond hearing scheduled Thursday.
