EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) - Authorities near Cleveland say one woman died and 11 others were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after they evacuated a high-rise apartment building.

Investigators are trying to find the cause of the carbon monoxide leak Friday at the complex in East Cleveland.

Fire officials told media outlets that it’s not clear yet whether the 79-year-old woman died of carbon monoxide poisoning. They say two others were in critical condition.

The 278-unit apartment building was evacuated Friday afternoon after four people went to a hospital complaining of symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Residents were allowed to return to their apartments Friday evening after the leaks were contained and the building was aired out.
