WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo woman has pleaded guilty in the 2013 stabbing death of her former boyfriend.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1mQJ9gb ) 40-year-old Keisha Lesha Magee pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder for the death of 28-year-old John Ladell Bass.

Magee had been charged with first-degree murder but agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge. Under the deal, she was sentenced to 50 years for the murder and two years for a pending domestic assault charge. She must serve 70 percent of the murder sentence before being considered for parole.

Magee was arrested in January 2013 for assaulting and threatening Bass.

On Sept. 29, she argued with Bass, then stabbed him in the chest. Court records show she mocked him as he gasped for breath.

He died later that day.
