KAYCEE, Wyo. (AP) - The century-old United Methodist Church in Kaycee is up for sale.

The church’s congregation is down to four members and can’t afford to pay the bills. The last service was held March 23 in the church.

The church’s contents go on sale Saturday and bids are being accepted for the building itself.

Alliance for History Wyoming board member Patricia Whitaker worries the purchaser of the building may choose to demolish it instead of preserve it for future generations.

She and others interested in preserving the building are making a bid for the property.

Whitaker tells the Casper Star-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1hclVyR) that the church is one of just a few historic buildings left in Kaycee after a 2003 flood devastated the downtown.
