WASHINGTON (AP) - The District of Columbia’s Democratic Party says Mayor Vincent Gray and D.C. Councilmember Muriel Bowser will be attending a breakfast intended to promote party unity.

Bowser defeated Gray and six others in Tuesday’s mayoral primary. Following her victory, she called for the party to come together ahead of the general election, in which she’ll face independent Councilmember David Catania.

As of Thursday afternoon, Gray had yet to call Bowser to congratulate her and hadn’t said whether he would support her in November. The two have long had a testy relationship. Bowser called on Gray to resign in 2012 following revelations of an illegal “shadow campaign” that helped him get elected in 2010.

The city Democratic State Committee’s “unity breakfast” will be held Friday morning at a church in southeast Washington.
