BALTIMORE (AP) - A developer is planning what could be Maryland’s tallest building by Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

The Daily Record reports (https://bit.ly/Oh9g0z ) that Questar Properties’ proposal for the 40-plus story building on the site of the former McCormick plant will debut before a city design review panel next week. The Transamerica Tower is currently the state’s tallest building at 35 stories and more than 500 feet high.

Questar CEO Stephen Gorn says the new building with an “elegant, sophisticated look” will incorporate 370 to 380 luxury apartments and street-level retail space. He says construction could begin late this year and take about 30 months.

McCormick’s facility was razed in the 1980s and an ARC Wheeler Equities affiliate bought the property in 2006 with plans for a 59-story skyscraper that were later abandoned.
