Chicago Cubs outfielder Junior Lake, likely weary after a 16-inning game that went into the wee hours of the night, mistakenly showed up for the next day’s 12:35 p.m. game wearing the wrong jersey — an outdated version that’s no longer even distributed to players.

Lake wore last season’s road jersey — with “Chicago” emblazoned across the front — for Thursday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. But this season’s road uniform includes a jersey that has “Cubs” on the front.

Mr. Lake actually took the field at PNC Park with the wrong shirt, playing a full inning with the garb. Somebody ultimately gave him a heads up, though, and he quickly changed.

The previous evening, the Cubs lost the extra-innings marathon to the Pirates, a game which lasted until nearly 1 a.m.
