GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The city of Greenville is applying for a grant from the Mississippi Department of Transportation that would pay for hangar renovations at the Greenville Mid-Delta Airport.

Airport Director Draylan Gant tells the Delta Democrat Times (https://bit.ly/1hK83up ) the money would be used to repair fire-suppression sprinklers in three hangars.

Last year, the transportation agency doled out $3.4 million to 19 airports around the state through its intermodal transportation grant program. Thirty-seven airports around the state applied for the grants.

Greenville is seeking $305,000 from the state, which would require a 15 percent match, or $54,000.
