CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - A massive central Illinois mansion is drawing a big asking price.

The five-bedroom home and its guest house that are for sale just outside the small town of Mahomet sits on 217 acres.

The listing price is almost $10 million.

Merle Giles is the broker and tells The News-Gazette (https://bit.ly/Of98yE ) the current $9.95 million price tag is down from the original $14.9 million asking price.

Giles says the owner is University of Illinois graduate and entrepreneur Bruce Artwick. Giles says the home is listed because Artwick built it “for wife he no longer has.”

He says the buyer will likely need a net worth of $100 million or more and be willing to foot the hefty $87,000 annual property tax bill.

Mahomet is about 10 miles west of Champaign.
