COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina election officials are working to educate the state’s residents about voting in this year’s races.

State Election Commission executive director Marci Andino has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday alongside county voter registration and elections officials.

The event at the Statehouse in Columbia is part of S.C. Voter Education Month. People can register to vote and get their photo taken for a photo voter registration card.

Representatives from the League of Women Voters, Protection & Advocacy, People with Disabilities and the Palmetto Project are also expected to attend.
