CHICAGO — The Detroit Tigers announced Wednesday that left-hander Robbie Ray will make his major-league debut Tuesday against the Houston Astros.

Ray, 22, was acquired this past offseason from the Nationals as part of the trade that sent starter Doug Fister to Washington.

Ray will start in place of injured starter Anibal Sanchez, who is on the disabled list with a laceration on his right middle finger.

In five starts for Triple-A Toledo, Ray is 3-2 with a 1.59 ERA.

He will need to be added to the 40-man roster.
