PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The National Weather Service says rain could cause flooding in parts of Rhode Island.

The service has put a flood watch into effect from Wednesday through Thursday afternoon.

It says 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall, with the possibility of up to 3 inches in some areas.

In Rhode Island, the flood watch is in effect in Kent, Providence and Washington counties. The service says there could be flooding in urban areas and areas with poor drainage.
