NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - New Castle County Police are investigating a string of sneaker robberies in Newark and Bear.

Police announced Tuesday that they are looking at two cases in recent weeks where teens’ Nike sneakers were taken in Weiss Park.

In one case in March, a 13-year-old boy told police two people tackled him and took his sneakers. Then last week, a 15-year-old told officers that two people assaulted him in the park, took his sneakers and fled. In the second case, police say two boys, ages 15 and 16, were arrested and charged and the shoes were returned.

Police are also looking at two cases last week, one in Bear and another in Newark, where teens trying to sell Nikes to strangers were robbed.
