President Obama will travel to Poland, Belgium and France in early June for meetings with European leaders and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the White House said Wednesday.
Mr. Obama will visit Poland first to mark the 25th anniversary of that nation’s emergence from communism. From there, he will travel to Brussels for a meeting of the G-7, whose leaders moved the annual conference from Sochi, Russia, in response to Moscow’s intervention in Ukraine.
The president will make his final stop in France to commemorate the June 6 anniversary of D-Day in 1944, when allied forces launched the invasion to liberate France and the rest of Europe from Nazi control in World War II.
