WAKEFIELD, Va. (AP) - The National Weather Service says there’s a little bit of street-level flooding in parts of central Virginia following a large storm system making its way through Virginia.
A tornado watch issued for the central Virginia area that includes Richmond was called off on Wednesday afternoon.
The storm that began late Tuesday was expected to last several days and spread from the mountains to the coast.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike Montefusco says the storm system should clear out by Friday.
He says heavy rains were forecast for the Hampton Roads region of Virginia on Thursday, and the conditions could be ripe for a tornado watch to be issued.
