JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has chosen one of his aides to represent consumer interests before state utility regulators.

Attorney Dustin Allison was appointed acting public counsel on Wednesday. The Office of the Public Counsel represents consumers before the Public Service Commission.

Allison replaces Lewis Mills, whom Nixon appointed earlier in April to lead the Energy Division of the Department of Economic Development.

Allison is currently a counsel for the economic development department and has represented Nixon to the National Governors Association and other multi-state organizations. He has served in the governor’s administration since Nixon took office in 2009 and previously worked for Nixon in the attorney general’s office.
