AUBURN, Maine (AP) - A Minot man involved in a six-hour armed standoff with police following a dispute with his family has been sentenced to four years in prison.

The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1knzZ68) reports that Michael Callahan was sentenced Tuesday on seven felony charges in connection with the December 2012 standoff during which police say he sprayed the area around his home with bullets from an assault rifle. No one was hurt.

Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Callahan became angry when he found out his wife had reported his alleged abusive behavior toward his children to state child welfare officials.

Police described a situation during which they had little cover and surveillance cameras in the driveway gave away their position. Police say he had several guns in the home.

Police returned fire and Callahan eventually surrendered.
