CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago has hit a pinnacle of pothole claims.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1fQtgz0 ) that so far this year 3,100 pothole-related claims have been filed with the city. That’s more than the total of nearly 2,450 for the last three years combined.
The 2014 total includes 1,200 claims introduced at Wednesday’s Chicago City Council meeting.
The Chicago city clerk processes damage claims of up to $2,000 before passing the claims on to the City Council’s Finance Committee. The claims are for damage like flat tires, bent wheel rims and realignments. Motorists need to provide a police report along with a paid repair bill or two estimates. Payments can take up to six months.
