SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A 100th anniversary painting of Wrigley Field is set to be unveiled.
The painting - “Wrigley Field: Memories and Dreams” by Thomas Kinkade Studios - will be unveiled Thursday afternoon in the Wrigley Room of Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse.
Patrick Kinkade, brother of the late Thomas Kinkade, and Chicago Cubs legend Ernie Banks will be joined by local gallery owners and art collectors for the event.
Thomas Kinkade Studios was commissioned by Major League Baseball to paint the rendering of Wrigley Field on Opening Day in the early 1940s.
The one-of-a-kind painting’s public presentation coincides with the Cubs’ home opener.
