MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Thursday, the 30th and final meeting day of the regular session:

HOUSE:

-Gave final approval to an education budget that does not include a 2 percent raise for education employees that was recommended by the governor. Goes to governor.

-Gave final approval to a bill requiring drug testing for welfare applications with a drug conviction in the last five years. Goes to governor.

SENATE:

-Joined the House in giving final approval to a bill setting new requirements for abortions for girls under 18. Goes to governor.

-Blocked consideration of a bill designed to protect low-cost spay-neuter clinics.

-Joined the House in giving final approval to a bill requiring a person applying for welfare benefits to have applied for three jobs. Goes to governor.

-Gave a standing ovation of Democratic Sen. Marc Keahey of Grove Hill after he announced he is dropping his re-election bid.

-Gave final approval to a bill to prohibit a legislator who leaves office from lobbying both the House and Senate for two years. Goes to governor.

-Delayed consideration of a bill to develop a database of payday loans, which killed it for this legislative session.

-Delayed consideration of a bill to keep secret the names of companies that supply drugs for lethal injections, which killed it for this legislative session.

AGENDA:

-Legislators elected in November will meet in January 2015 for an organizational session and in March 2015 for a regular session.
