PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a 66-year-old man suffered a life-threatening injury when he was punched in the head by a man whom he’d earlier offered some beer.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson says police are seeking a man in his early 20s in the Wednesday afternoon assault.

According to Thompson, the victim was in line at a market when he offered to share some beer with the suspect. Thompson says the suspect got mad and the men exchanged words.

The assault occurred minutes later about a block from the store as the victim was walking. According to Thompson, the victim fell to the ground after he was punched in the head.

Police say they’re looking for a Hispanic man who is 20 to 25 years old; 5-foot-7 and 150 to 170 pounds.
