An obviously buoyed President Obama took his newly announced Obamacare enrollment numbers on the road and issued some quick and fast pot shots at Republicans, denouncing that party’s budget plan and health care alternative.
Their budget proposal — complete with a repeal of Obamacare — “should be familiar because it was their economic plan in the 2012 campaign. It was their economic plan in 2012. It’s like that movie ’Groundhog Day.’ Except it’s not funny,” Mr. Obama said, during an address at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, reported by Politico.
And calling attention to the reported 7.1 million who have enrolled in his signature health care overhaul — a number that’s disputed by several Republicans who say it’s fake — Mr. Obama then issued a couple of shots at the GOP budget and repeal proposal.
“If they tried to sell this sandwich at Zingerman’s,” he said, referring to the local cafe he stopped at, Politico reported, “they’d have to call it the Stinkburger or the Meanwich.”
And his comedy routine went on, taking a sarcastic slant.
Mr. Obama then said that at least Republicans do have “one original idea,” Politico reported. That’s repealing Obamacare — “because they haven’t tried that 50 times. Fifty times they tried to do that,” he said.
